Dr. Nassif Elected New Division Chief of Joint Replacement at HOI

Nader Nassif, M.D., a board-certified orthopedic surgeon at Newport Orthopedic Institute, has been elected as the new Division Chief of Joint Replacement at Hoag Orthopedic Institute (HOI), one of the largest providers of orthopedic care in the nation.
In his new role, Dr. Nassif will help to identify key programs and resources needed to develop, implement and maintain HOI’s joint replacement program. HOI has been the highest volume provider of joint replacements in California for eight consecutive years, as reported by data from the Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development (OSHPD).
Steve L. Barnett, M.D., Chief Medical Officer at HOI said, “With overwhelming support from all of his peers, Hoag Orthopedic Institute would like to congratulate Dr. Nassif on his appointment as our Division Chief of Joint Replacement. We are confident that Dr. Nassif will continue to uphold HOI’s standards as a national leader in orthopedic care.”
In his new role, Dr. Nassif plans to enhance public education and community outreach related to joint replacements, as well as promote open communication with referring physicians to bring awareness to HOI’s joint replacement program. Other responsibilities include creating and maintaining communications with both joint replacement team members as well as outside vendors involved with the program.
“It’s an honor to lead this program among so many tireless, compassionate and dedicated orthopedic surgeons,” said Dr. Nassif. “I look forward to working with Hoag Orthopedic Institute to attain the next generation of innovation in joint replacement,”
Dr. Nassif earned his medical degree from Harvard Medical School and graduated with honors. Dr. Nassif completed his residency in Orthopedic Surgery at Washington University in Saint Louis, Mo. He continued his training at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City, where he focused on hip replacement and knee replacement surgery and adult joint reconstruction. Finally, Dr. Nassif received additional training in advanced joint reconstructive surgery, limb salvage surgery and the care benign and malignant tumors of the soft tissue and bone.
Dr. Nassif has been active in research and the advancement of joint replacement and reconstruction surgery. He has authored multiple scientific articles and book chapters as well as presented at many regional, national, and international meetings. Dr. Nassif also serves as the fellowship director for the joint replacement program at Hoag Orthopedic Institute.
