Introducing Hafiz Kassam, M.D., Now Accepting New Patients!

Newport Orthopedic Institute is pleased to welcome Dr. Hafiz Kassam to our team. Dr. Kassam is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon who is fellowship-trained in Shoulder & Elbow Surgery. He is an expert in minimally invasive techniques in shoulder and elbow joint replacement as well as advanced arthroscopy and traumatic reconstruction.

Dr. Kassam completed his education and training at world-class institutions in three countries. After completing his undergraduate work and medical training in the United Kingdom he completed his residency in Orthopedic Surgery at the University of Toronto. He then moved to the United States, where he completed his shoulder and elbow fellowship training at Yale University.

Dr. Kassam is a well-published clinician-scientist, which further displays his belief in evidence-based treatments for his patients. He is regularly invited as faculty at national courses on shoulder and elbow surgery and is a member of several multi-center research initiatives. He is also a member of the highly selective society of American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons.

Dr. Kassam is also one of the few physicians in Southern California who specializes in revision shoulder and elbow surgery, tendon transfer operations, and complex arthroscopic reconstructions.

Dr. Kassam has competed internationally as a ranked middleweight boxer, which gives him the unique ability to understand the needs of athletes and the importance of getting back to competitive shape after undergoing an injury. He is currently a Ringside Physician for USA Boxing.
