I am an ophthalmologist. I have no association with Newport Orthopedic Institute other than as a patient. Three weeks ago I took a hard fall while cycling landing on my shoulder. I shattered my collar bone and had a smaller fracture to my elbow, this happened on a Saturday.

The Newport Ortho Institute was the practice covering the ER, and the ER staff gave me the name of one of the specialists to follow up with. On Monday I saw Dr. Desai and after reviewing the x-rays and discussing the options, I opted to proceed with surgery. This occurred 5 days later. Dr. Desai had to piece together a few loose bits of bone and re-approximate them in position with a titanium plate and about 12 screws…all in tight, swollen tissue.

I am so pleased with the results. It is 2 weeks post-op and I have great range of motion, good strength and I've already been back on my bike. I can't thank him enough for his technical skills, but he is also kind, and personable, and has a pleasant bedside manner. I could not be happier with my experience with Newport Orthopedic Institute, the surgical facility and staff downstairs, and of course, Dr. Desai. Thank you everyone.
